A unique trend analysis tool
The more complicated, expensive and time-consuming a manufacturing process is, the more important it is to be able to determine early in the process that the product is of the right quality and that manufacture is optimal. When manufacturing glass containers, this is of vital importance in order to reduce losses in capacity, efficiency and profitability.

The GVS–Glass Vision System is a trend analysis tool that makes it possible to monitor and detect deviations in the hot end of the manufacturing process. It works entirely independent of the temperature of the containers. Any deviations during the process can be dealt with. The result is better quality, increased productivity and lower costs.

High performance technology
The GVS concept is based on matrix camera technology and visible light. The glass container is lit from behind. An arrangement of three cameras captures each container with good clarity to provide an excellent basis for analysis and system control.

An outstanding feature of the GVS concept is that the technology is independent of temperature. It means that both thin and thick glass containers can be analysed with the same precision. The analysis is also independent of variations in the distance to the IS machine and the different forming sections of the machine. It means that the analysis does not need to compensate for temperature differences between the containers.

GVS operation
The GVS consists of a camera module and a backlight module. The cameras are adjusted automatically according to the height of the glass containers. The image sharpness and light intensity are also adjusted automatically. The images are processed and analysed in a computer that carries out trend calculations and controls communication with the surrounding units.

The back-light module consists of powerful light sources for constant light flow. The light flow can be screened off and concentrated on the glass container in order to reduce the risk of dazzle. Once the GVS system identifies a defective glass container, a signal is sent to the reject function, which takes the container off the belt, reducing the load at the cold end.

User friendly interface
The interface between the system and operator is user friendly and the configuration can be adapted to the customer’s production situation. The saved information can be used to reduce time for jobchange.
